Posted by Casey on 4/6/2011 2:05:00 PM Hello - which RODE or other microphone would you recommendfor capturing outdoor concerts? I am a casual video taper of concerts and use a small cannon hd video camera that does have an external mic jack.

Replied by LA Color Online Hi Casey, for high fidelity sound recording such as conerts, I would recommend the Rode Stereo VideoMic

http://lacoloronline.com/product/?SVM-RODE-Stereo-VideoMic-Condenser-Microphone.

The stereo XY recording wil give you the best sound recorded from concert. For conversation style, a shotgun mic will be better.
Posted by Jerry Julian on 4/6/2011 11:11:00 PM What would you recommend for a Canon HV30 camcorder. I use it for nature video and ship model regatta recording. How would the Rode video mike Pro work as I like the looks of the smaller mike.

Replied by LA Color Online In general, if you need higher fidelity, RODE Stereo Mic will be a great choice that you get ambience and great sound quality. For dialog conversation style, a shot gun mic (mono mic) such as VideoMic or VideoMic Pro would be better as it will reject and filter side and rear sound. It's directional.

I have been using VideoMic for HV30. Got really good result.
